John Edwards, move over. There’s a new standard bearer for the most unpopular person PPP has polled in any state: Levi Johnston in Alaska.

Edwards’ 15/72 favorability on our January North Carolina poll had set the initial record for futility but Johnston matches the 72% unfavorable number while only 6% of Alaskans see him in a positive light. Those poll numbers probably don’t bode too well for his Wasilla Mayoral candidacy.

Johnston is reviled pretty universally across the board but he’s a little more popular with Democrats (15/61) than he is with Republicans (4/76) or independents (4/74).

It’s hard to muster a favorability rating lower than 6%- that’s about where the average person off the street we polled on a lark would be- so Johnson may hold this dubious distinction for a long time. Who besides like Hitler or Osama Bid Laden do you think we could poll who would be less popular in some particular state?

Indeed, that is a bad sign if he wants to be mayor. Maybe if he stopped lying every time he opens his mouth and tones down the douchey-ness, he wouldn’t be universally hated around the country. I don’t know what is sadder… that there is actually someone that the public hates more than Nancy Pelosi… or that 6% of Alaskans actually like Levi Johnston.

Well, it wasn’t really 15 minutes of fame. It was more like 15 minutes of toolish media whoring, filled with prevarications for which the media itself was a more than willing pimp. On Tuesday, Levi Johnston finally admitted the shocking news that he was, in fact, lying. By shocking, I of course mean the total opposite of shocking. Still, I’m fairly certain that Uterine Forensic Specialist ™ , Andrew Sullivan, will say that Sarah Palin’s magical uterus hoodwinked Levi into apologizing.

“Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true,” he tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize.”

“So to the Palin family in general and to Sarah Palin in particular, please accept my regrets and forgive my youthful indiscretion,” Johnston says in the statement. “I hope one day to restore your trust.”

No biggie. Just a “youthful indiscretion” — a whopping one year ago. I suppose we are to assume that liar years are like dog years. Let’s flashback to those days of yore from the time of his “youthful indiscretion.” Levi Johnston was given platforms at every major news organization, the worst of which was CBS where he said “I’m Hiding ‘Huge’ Things About Palin“.  Evidently, the only things that he was hiding were his decency and his brains, neither one of which is “huge.”During the same appearance, he went on to say:

“I think the biggest hit we’ve had on, like, the Vanity Fair, you know, people really look on, is when she called her kid retarded,” he said. “I mean, I’ve got a lot of people talking about that.”

Oh, a hit! So glad that bashing and lying about your child’s family was such a hit!  Moreover, the Palins refer to Trig as “their little angel.” If they ever used the word “retarded,”  I’m pretty sure they were talking about you, Levi.  This is evidently beyond your comprehension, but perhaps the Palins didn’t treat you with hugs and kisses and cookies because, you know, you impregnated their teenage daughter. People are funny like that.

At the time, Sarah Palin issued this statement:

CBS should be ashamed for continually providing a forum to propagate lies. Consider the source of the most recent attention-getting lies — those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention.”

Exactly. CBS should have been ashamed. But are they? Apparently not, as they have yet to acknowledge Levi Johnston’s admission that he is a big, fat liar. CBS would be ashamed — except for the pesky fact that they have no shame. It’s hard to have shame when you spend all your time on your knees. The media was all too ready to promote anything at all to make that icky “beauty queen” Sarah Palin look bad, like a bunch of jealous high school kids gossiping and spreading false rumors about the popular girl.

While it’s unfortunate that Bristol doesn’t have the same excellent taste in men as her mother, she did inherit her class. Bristol issued the following statement:

Part of co-parenting is creating healthy and honest relationships between the parents. Tripp one day needs to know the truth and needs to know that even if a mistake is made the honorable thing to do is to own up to it.

That’s really who it’s all about – baby Tripp. For his sake, I hope that Levi has matured more than the jokers at CBS. I also hope he finally realizes that he has a child and starts acting like a father and not a self-interested attention whore, craving publicity from people whom he is too stupid to realize have been using him and laughing at him, not with him. Perhaps he should print out the following and use it as reference for how to not act in the future.

Levi Johnston, Sarah Palin’s grandbaby-daddy and the bane of her existence, is pitching his own docu-series in which he will introduce viewers to Alaska.

The news comes just days after Discovery Networks announced that its TLC network would air “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” in which she will introduce us to Alaska.

… Levi’s show, tentatively titled “Levi Johnston’s Final Frontier,” is ” ‘Jersey Shore’ on ice,” Krasnow said.

… Levi and his pals “put jet fuel in their snowmobiles — they trick them out,” the producer said. “They drive Ford pickups. They don’t go on the Internet often. That’s what we’re interested in about him.”

… The aspiring reality TV star and his party-mobile were making stops at various cable networks’ offices to pitch a series that Krasnow hopes will be around eight episodes — just like Palin’s.

Monday afternoon, the Johnston party wagon was parked outside MTV Networks’ offices in Santa Monica.

Krasnow, whose credits include “The Weakest Link,” would not confirm what other, non-MTV, networks were being pitched, other than to say they were all networks that target “younger-skewing networks” — networks that attract “the type [of viewer] that would not watch TLC or Discovery.”

Exact details of Levi’s show were being kept deliberately vague, so the project could be tailor-made to suit the purchasing network.

Mothership MTV network, for instance, might want to focus more on Levi’s first time on the dating scene in Alaska since breaking up with Bristol, whereas MTV’s Spike network might want them to focus on what Krasnow called “the adrenaline activities he has in Alaska with his buddies.”

… “He’s a 19-year-old kid living a life like nobody else’s on the planet and in the culture of Alaska — that interested us. When Sarah Palin made her announcement, we rushed and decided to go out quicker. In a competitive marketplace, it made sense, if Sarah Palin is going to try to own Alaska,” Krasnow snarked.

“She may try to tell us how beautiful an iceberg is. . . . His version might include skinning a bear.”

That said, Krasnow said he’s going to do a show “that’s authentic and real — it’s not trying to just be some anti-Sarah Palin show. That is not our motivation. We’re showing Alaska through somebody else’s eyes — the lives of real people in Alaska — and throwing into the limelight a good guy who is poised and polite; a good kid.”

Yeah — a good, poised, polite guy who impregnates a girl, leaves her, refuses to pay child support, jet-sets between Hollywood and New York trying to become a celebrity, and poses in Playgirl. A “Jersey Shore” style reality show sounds about as classy as he is, and so it sounds perfect for him.

While I guess this would technically be considered a good thing for his son — this would certainly help him with the child support — I still can’t help but think deadbeat dad over and over again when I think of Levi Johnston. Bristol is a teenager, too. She’s got notoriety just as much as Levi does. Yet you don’t see her out there milking it for every penny its worth. Sure, she does a TV appearance here and there, but Levi takes it to a whole other level. He’s walking the red carpet at celebrity parties, posing naked for Playgirl, hiring a manager and a bodyguard, inventing a ridiculous new name for himself, all while Bristol stays home in Alaska and takes care of their son. They aren’t a couple anymore, but he still has a responsibility to be a father to his son. And judging by the content of this reality show — jet fuel in snowmobiles, “lots and lots of women”, as reported by Newser — it seems like being a good father is the last thing on Levi Johnston’s mind. He wants to exploit the publicity he found due to briefly being a part of the Palin family, and now he’s turned his back on them. At least Bristol is taking responsibility for her actions. Levi is exploiting his son and the mother of his child to try to become a celebrity. I somehow doubt Tripp will be particularly proud of his father when he grows up. Levi, meanwhile, doesn’t seem to realize that he’s a Hollywood laughingstock.

As far as the battle between Sarah and Levi, it seems to me that Alaskans will prefer Sarah’s version by far. It looks as if Levi is out to make young Alaskans look like nothing more than idiotic, adrenaline-seeking hicks. Sarah Palin is out to show the beauty and the adventure of Alaska. Which was seems to be a more positive representation? If anything, I’d imagine that Levi’s show will be an embarassment to Alaskans, and especially the community of Wasilla.

Happily, I have no doubt that the real loser in all of this won’t be anyone else but Levi Johnston. If he does do this reality show, then it will do nothing but show him for the low-class piece of trash he is.

After allegations that she called her son Trig retarded, Levi drops another bombshell: he wants to take Sarah Palin to court.

Levi Johnston, 19, who had a son called Tripp with Mrs Palin’s eldest daughter Bristol, has been considering legal action for months but now says it is “inevitable” and that Mrs Palin is preventing him from seeing the boy.

A court case over Tripp, during which Mr Johnston may make damaging allegations about Mrs Palin, could hamper any hopes she harbours of running for the White House in 2012.

“I’m up to the point where I can’t see my kid again. I’m done. I’m sure we’ll end up in court,” Mr Johnston said in an interview with The Guardian today. “We’re definitely going to court. They started letting me see him and everything was fine. But everything got bad again. So I said screw them. Bristol listens to her mom. Sarah says something, Bristol is going to follow.”

Mr Johnston said there had been periods when he was able to see Tripp about once a week but at other times he has had almost no contact. He last saw his son several weeks ago, he said.

… In one withering assessment of the former Alaska Governor he claimed that she was selfish and, in contrast to her public image, did not fish or know how to use her own gun.

There was further embarrassment for Mrs Palin this month when the man who was nearly her son-in-law announced that he will be posing nude for Playgirl magazine.

Mrs Palin’s lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, said Mr Johnston was “always welcome” to visit his son.

I’d like to see Levi Johnston do that. In any case, it’s really irrelevant. The real question here is, should Levi Johnston be taking Sarah Palin to court? Does he have a case?

If he can prove that the Palins have been barring access to his son, then yes, he has a case. I, however, find that highly unlikely. Bristol has stayed home, in Alaska, raising their son. Levi Johnston, on the other hand, went out and got himself an agent and a manager and boyguards. He’s been jet-setting across the country to be on TV shows and give interviews with tabloid magazines. Perhaps if Levi spent a little bit more time focusing on his family, rather than his new Hollywood career, he wouldn’t be finding himself shut out of his son’s life. What does he expect Bristol to do? Fly Tripp out to Los Angeles or New York to have a custody visit with Levi every weekend?

Levi Johnston is Tripp’s father, and of course he should share custody with Bristol. He should be allowed to see his son, and if the Palins are not allowing him to see Tripp, then I would agree that they are in the wrong. I just don’t believe it, and even if they did, I’d kind of feel like they’d have a good reason for it anyway. It wouldn’t excuse it, but it’s understandable. Levi has made all kinds of damaging allegations against the Palins. He’s trashed them all over the country, on TV and in magazines and newspapers. And on top of that, he’s posing fully nude in Playgirl, for chrissakes. If they were keeping him from seeing Tripp, it would be understandable (albeit still wrong). I just personally think that it’s more likely that Levi hasn’t been trying to see his son as much as he probably should have been, and is using it as an excuse to try to hurt the Palins further.

As the article states, a nasty custody case would only hurt Sarah Palin’s chances in 2012. And even if she isn’t running for president in the next election, it still would trash the way the public sees her. Levi knows that. I bet he’s counting on it. He’s not doing this out of love for his son, he’s doing it for his own gain and because he’s got some stupid vendetta against the Palins.

I keep asking this every time I write about him, but honestly — can he sink any lower? I’m sure he can, and if we give it a few days I’ll bet we’ll see him sink a little bit lower yet again.

First of all, it says a lot to me that even Ms. Gonzalez doesn’t buy his claim, at least not about Trig. It says a lot about how much his credibility is diminishing. He may never have had much credibility with conservatives, but the mainstream media bought everything he was selling, and they did so enthusiastically. And some of what he has said isn’t completely unbelievable. Sarah Palin knew that he and Bristol were sexually active? OK, that’s believable. She and Todd fought sometimes and even discussed divorce? I can buy that. What couple doesn’t fight? My own parents got separated once and had talked about divorce. They certainly fought a lot growing up. But they’re still married to this day. What he’s said before is not out of the realm of possibility. But when he starts saying that Sarah Palin would come home from work and ask, “Where’s my retarded baby?”, it starts getting hard to believe. When it’s even hard to believe for mainstream media reporters, who are eager to report anything that makes Sarah look bad, it should really say something. By his own admission he has no proof, and given how we’ve seen Sarah Palin talk about Trig and act towards Trig, it seems extremely unlikely that he’s telling the truth.

He’s also saying now that, at the Republican National Convention, he was just playing a part. That’s not something I would say if I were Levi — because at the convention, he looked like a mature, classy, capable young man, one who was committed to his girlfriend and his soon-to-be-born child. By saying that it was all just an act, and right before he poses in Playgirl, no less, what is he telling us? That he’s a stupid, classless hick who’s out to get money and notoriety at any cost possible? That’s not going to help with his credibility, either, but apparently Levi’s not smart enough to think that one all the way through (big surprise).

Bristol, on the other hand, still seems to be the same beautiful, classy, family-oriented girl she was during the election. Tellingly, she’s remained quiet about all of this. She hasn’t stooped to his level. And by his own admission, she doesn’t speak to him about everything he’s been saying about her family when they have to see or speak to each other about their baby. While he tries to put some kind of conspiratorial spin on it — it must be Sarah Palin cooking up some evil plan to get revenge!!!! — it simply seems to me that Bristol has a lot of something that Levi Johnston will never understand: class, dignity, and integrity. Levi clearly has none.

Sarah Palin, meanwhile, has fired back at Johnston:

We have purposefully ignored the mean spirited, malicious and untrue attacks on our family. We, like many, are appalled at the inflammatory statements being made or implied. Trig is our ‘blessed little angel’ who knows it and is lovingly called that every day of his life. Even the thought that anyone would refer to Trig by any disparaging name is sickening and sad. CBS should be ashamed for continually providing a forum to propagate lies. Consider the source of the most recent attention-getting lies — those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention.

What’s sad and disgusting is that Levi seems to be doing this because he says the Palins hurt him somehow. But if my memory serves me accurately, he was the one who sold them out first; he was the one speaking out to the media saying harmful things first. And because she had the audacity to respond, it means that he has the so-called right to do what he’s doing and say what he’s saying. It frankly is pathetic. He’s trying to paint himself as some kind of victim here, but all the while he’s stabbing the people who put him in the public eye to begin with in the back. It says a lot more about him than it does about the Palins, and I think that even the mainstream media is starting to see that.

Well, his manager has confirmed it. They are in talks with two male nude magazines, and the best part? His manager is assuring us that it was be “tasteful”.

Question: how is a male nude spread considered tasteful?

As former Alaska governor and GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin contemplates her post-gubernatorial political future, Levi Johnston, the father of her first grandson, by daughter Bristol, is mulling over offers to pose nude for two magazines with largely (if not almost exclusively) gay readerships.

In a telephone interview on Wednesday, Tank Jones, Levi’s manager-bodyguard, confirmed to Advocate.com that negotiations were underway with both Unzipped Media and Playgirl.com to have Bristol Palin’s baby daddy take it all off for an exclusive photo shoot.

“Naw, that’s serious. Mr. Butler is doing that,” Jones said, referring to Levi’s lawyer, Rex Butler, when asked if such a photo shoot might actually happen.

Rick Andreoli, executive editor of Unzipped Media — whose owners also own The Advocate — also confirmed that Unzipped magazine had made an overture to Levi about appearing au naturel in an upcoming issue.

“When Levi was on Bravo saying that he was willing to pose nude if the offer was right, we made an offer to Tank Jones and we’re waiting to hear back on that,” Andreoli said.

… “If we do anything like this, it’s going to be done tastefully and professionally. We’re not going to do any smut … We’re not committed to anything,” Jones said before adding that negotiations have not yet reached such a level as to warrant discussion about restrictions or limitations on a potential photo shoot.

If Johnston, who made his shirtless debut in GQ just a few months back, does end up stripping down for a photo shoot, it will only be the latest salvo in his war of words with Sarah Palin, who once called his family “trailer trash.”

This comes out around the same time as Levi does more trashing of Sarah Palin — fueling more divorce rumors, calling her a bad mother, and saying that she thought her job as governor was too hard for her. How convenient that what he said is exactly what the left wants to hear. And now, he’s stooping to a trashy new low in actually doing negotiations for a nude spread for a gay audience.

I keep saying it, but whenever I hear news about this toolbag, I think the same thing: Bristol must be humiliated. While he’s out living his Hollywood dream — something that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the Palins — Bristol’s at home taking care of their child, and frankly, being quite classy about it. Rather than having back-and-forth tabloid wars with Levi over his lies, she’s kept quiet. That’s called DIGNITY, Levi. It’s a word he apparently can’t understand. When Sarah Palin called this family trailer trash, clearly she was right.

Final thought: why do people want to see this guy naked, anyways? The best he’s ever looked was with Bristol on the campaign trail, and he’s never looked as good since. I mean, really, there’s a reason that it’s only the gays who are interested in him now.
