Go ahead - make my day!

I’m not quite back yet, but I wanted to put up a quick post, because today is a day to be remembered. 25 years ago today, over 200 Marines, sailors, and soldiers were murdered when a terrorist slammed a delivery truck into the lobby of their barracks filled with explosives. The suicide bomber’s plan worked: the four-story building crumbled, crushing the servicemen as they slept. 220 Marines were killed along with 21 other service members.

They were there on a peacekeeping mission. And we can’t forget them. Here are their names. Remember their sacrifice.

The families still haven’t forgotten.

Ed and Mary Ann Johnston drive by the Peace Keepers Memorial in Struthers and Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown nearly every day to “check things” and “maybe clean up a little.”

Shirley Kirkwood adds, “If I can get through the holidays, I’m pretty good.”

The Johnstons and Kirkwood, then Shirley McDonough, are among the local residents who lost sons and husbands when a terrorist truck bomb destroyed the Marine Corps’ First Battalion, 8th Marines Headquarters Building in Beirut, Lebanon, the morning of Oct. 23, 1983.

Twenty-five years later, they are still dealing with the loss of their loved ones.

“You never forget it. You try to, but you can’t,” Johnston said.

The explosion and the collapse of the building killed 241 Marines, sailors and soldiers, including 220 Marines, 14 of whom were from Ohio, and three from the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys.

Here are pictures of the horrific bombing:

Michelle notes that Barack Obama wants to treat these terrorists with “compassion”. He wants to end the war and do what most liberals want to do: stick their heads in the sand and ignore reality. Hope it goes away. Well, it won’t just go away. They want to destroy us, and they’ve been trying long before 9-11. The Beirut bombing was just another warning sign that we ignored, and we can’t let the loss of those men, and the thousands of others who have given everything to protect us, be in vain. And for what? To forfeit victory in the name of political correctness? The problem will not just go away, no matter how many terrorist leaders Barack Obama meets with.

Remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. America and her ideals and values are worth fighting for. 25 years ago today, 241 men were murdered in a war we didn’t know we were fighting, on a peacekeeping mission to try to bring freedom to a war-torn country. Never, ever forget.

Rest easy, sleep well, my brothers
Know the line has held, your job is done
Rest easy, sleep well
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held
Peace, peace, and farewell…

In the world outside of the election, the U.S. Embassy in Yemen was attacked by a car bomber of unknown religious origins:

A car bomb targeting the U.S. Embassy hit the front gate of the compound in Yemen’s capital Wednesday, a U.S. spokesman said. A senior Yemeni security official said six Yemeni guards and four civilians were killed.
The Yemeni guards were assigned to sentry duty outside the embassy by the Interior Ministry. The civilians were three Yemenis and one Indian national, the Yemeni security official said.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Ryan Gliha, the embassy spokesman, told The Associated Press by telephone that there was a second explosion that followed the initial one, but did not know what caused it.

Another Yemeni security official said the embassy was hit by two car bombs and that heavy gunfire lasting around 10 minutes followed the blasts.

Several nearby homes were badly damaged by the blasts, he said, but had no information on whether the heavily guarded embassy sustained damage too.

A medical official, meanwhile, said at least seven Yemeni nationals were wounded and taken to the city’s Republican hospital. They are residents of a housing compound near the embassy and included children, he said.

Hey, I wonder who it could be! The AP doesn’t know. Hmm… let’s think… Bob Owens has a clue:

Sky News is saying the attackers were dressed as soldiers, and notes that the Yemeni branch of the Islamic Jihad had made threats just three days ago.

Reuters notes that the U.S. Embassy says no Americans were among the wounded.

Wow, I wonder if this means they’re still trying to kill us.

Quick, someone elect the Obamamessiah! It’s our only hope! For once he waves his mighty hand, all violence everywhere will immediately cease.

Right?

While we’ve been obsessing over the election and nursing our collective Palin fever, Islamic terrorists have found better things to do with their time than discuss Sarah Palin’s hairdo or who insulted who first. There’s a whole world out there beyond the election, and it would be good to pay attention to what’s going on. Like this latest instance of Islamic terror:

A series of bombs exploded at a park and crowded shopping areas across India’s capital Saturday evening, killing at least 18 people and wounding dozens. Muslim extremists claimed to be behind the latest in a recent wave of attacks that has killed more than 100.

The bombs were clearly timed for maximum bloodshed and panic. Placed in jammed shopping districts, the explosives began to go off just before sundown — prime time for weekend shoppers in crowded, chaotic New Delhi — sending thousands fleeing in fear.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil said at least 18 people died in five explosions, but some media reports put the death toll as high as 25. Mayor Arti Mehra said at least 61 more suffered wounds.

”It’s a very cowardly act of violence,” Mehra told reporters near the scene of two of the explosions, in the M-Block market of the upscale Greater Kailash neighborhood. ”They want to break the spirit of Delhi. They have tried this in other places before and they have not succeeded and they will not succeed here. They will not scare us.”

Just who the attackers are remains unclear.

Emphasis added, with a dollop of derision on top. Because I think the AP answered their own question in this next paragraph:

A number of Indian media outlets received an e-mail sent just before the blasts warning that India was about to receive ”the Message of Death.”

”In the name of Allah, Indian Mujahideen strikes back once more. … Do whatever you can. Stop us if you can,” said the message.

Just one more instance of extremism in the religion of peace.

The rest of the article goes on to outline the many instances of Islamic violence perpetrated against innocents in India over the past year. Yet somehow, the attackers are unknown to the AP.

Really?

Back in the real world, this is just another example to show us that the threat of Islamic terror is not just going to disappear on its own… no matter how hard we pray to the Obamamessiah.

George Stephanopoulous is nice enough to correct him:

Transcript:

Obama: What I was suggesting — you, you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not, uh, talked about my Muslim faith, and you’re absolutely right that is —

Stephanopoulos: Christian faith.

Obama: — yeah, my, my Christian faith… and, what, what I’m saying is he hasn’t suggested that I’m, that I’m, that I’m, uh, a Muslim.

Very interesting indeed.

So, what to make of this? Is Obama secretly a Muslim?

Honestly, I don’t think so. I think this is just another gaffe made by a man who is not nearly as eloquent as his followers would like to believe. Much more interesting is how George Stephanopoulos was willing to jump in and save his ass for him.

Unbiased reporting, all the way.

Hey, how about some haute couture with your oppression? The burqa goes chic!

The burqa is the wardrobe of choice for many Muslim women. It is worn over a woman’s daily clothing, usually covering her from head to toe. Today, the burqa has gone designer, popping up on fashion runways in the West, like at this show by Norwegian designers Marked Moskva in Norway earlier this month. Here, a burqa evokes traditional Norwegian dress. The designers reportedly say they are aiming their collection at Muslims and non-Muslims.

Here are a few of the pictures from the collection:

I think I’ll pass on the new burqa haute couture. I know that dhimmitude is all the rage in Europe Eurabia right now, but here in America, I’m happy wearing my jeans, tank top, and flip flops. I have no desire to cover myself up from head to toe to please a bloodthirsty cult who thinks that rape is an offense punishable by death, thank you very much.

Here’s what I consider haute couture: the Uncovered Meat line. I first heard about it a looong time ago from Tammy Bruce, and I still think this stuff rocks. I like the Satanic Women’s Tank Top, myself:

Here’s the inspiration for it:
“If you take uncovered meat and put it on the street, on the pavement, in a garden, in a park, or in the backyard, without a cover and the cats eat it, then whose fault will it be, the cat?s, or the uncovered meat?s? The uncovered meat is the disaster. If the meat was covered the cats wouldn?t roam around it. If the meat is inside the fridge, they won?t get it.”

-Australian Muslim Leader, Sheik Taj Din al-Hilaly’s Post-Ramadan Sermon, Sydney Australia 2006. He was referring to women.

Show the Sheik how things really are and Sheik your Booty in this quality Infidel Clothing.

Manufactured in the Great Satan, all proceeds go towards forbidden consumption of alcohol.

You can go with my pick of the Satanic Women’s Tank Top, a Eurabia Yellow T-shirt, a white T-shirt of Submission, a fitted Infidel Shirt, Fatwa Spaghetti Tanks and Shorts, Unclean Animal Shirts, and even Hilaly Thongs.

Those sound much better to me than the “burqa chic”.

From the AP:

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - An Islamic militant Web site said Monday it would soon release video clips showing the capture of three American soldiers who disappeared in Iraq in mid-May. The body of one soldier was later found, but the other two remain missing.

The Washington-based SITE Institute said it had obtained the 10-minute, 41-second video that shows the planning stages and kidnapping operation as well as footage from after the attack.

The institute, which monitors militant Web sites, said the video also shows the identification cards of the two of the soldiers. A prominent Islamic Web site said in a banner headline said it would soon show the video, but it was not yet posted.

Does this mean the other two soldiers are still alive? Let’s hold out hope for now. Be sure to keep the soldiers — and their families — in your thoughts and prayers.

Robert Spencer is blogging the Qu’ran (or Koran) over at Hot Air:

To understand the motives and goals of Islamic jihad terrorists, one good place to start might be to explore what they themselves say about why they’re doing what they’re doing, and what they want. That in turn will lead you to the Qur’an (or Koran), the Islamic holy book. The jihadists quote it frequently and portray themselves as those who are following “pure Islam,” the genuine article as it is taught in the Qur’an and Islamic tradition. So in the course of my work explaining the jihadists’ objectives, I’ve quoted the Qur’an a great deal – and hardly a day goes by without my being accused of “cherry-picking” violent passages, and quoting them “out of context.” Meanwhile, the Council on American Islamic Relations and other Muslim groups say that in order to understand the true, peaceful Islam, we should read the Qur’an.

Make sure to check back every Sunday and read it.
