When Bush mispronounced nuclear, the left went bananas. It became someone he was bashed for non-stop. Obama’s misspoken plenty of times, but I don’t think I’ve ever been so offended — and I’m not even in the military.
Remember, this is a man who graduated from Harvard and is a Constitutional scholar. But he can’t figure out how to pronounce corpsman? Is he going to be calling it the Marine Corpse next? This is a huge insult to the military. Huge. Does he really need the teleprompter to tell him how to pronounce corpsman?
The man is pathetic.

Usually talking a good talk is ALL he can do. After all, he never, or rarely, visits our guys that are out there dying so a joke like him can race his mouth. And take vacations, look silly trying to get the Olympics to Chicago, bow down to foreign leaders (was he tying his shoes?), give speeches daily on TV…and, tell the rest of the world how awful we are here in the U.S.of A. And still he was elected. Maybe the voters will get a real President next election.
At Auschwitz, Obama mispronounced Chancellor Merkel’s last name as rhyming with “Erkel”. He mispronouncr his “good friend” Elie Wiesel’s last name as “vee-ZELL” instead of properly rhyming with “diesel”.
He totally butchered the name “Volkhart Knigge”. He pronounced his last name as “Chinnaga” instead of “knigga”. Herr Knigge’s first name is properly pronounced like “Folk Heart”. I’d tell you how Obama pronounced it but it would be an obscene reference to rough sex.

I read one news account or blog that speculated that the person who loads the TelePrompTer didn’t know how to pronounce it, and included an incorrect phonetic rendering, which Obama dutifully read. Who knows? Without the media to magnify it, it will be forgotten in a few days.

” Corps – man” three times in a row on TV yesterday? He was reading the teleprompter and read it like it is spelled. He did not know the difference and was quite secure in the pronunciation. Three times. This is the brilliance that has made the last year so unforgettable. Exactly, like many have all said before, dumber than a box of rocks.

This has nothing to do with the word “corps” Obama pronounces almost ALL S’s with an S sound.
(He did use a Z in Elie Wiesel, but he knows that’s a non-English word)
Most people don’t realize this, but “cats” and “dogs” are not pronounced the same. The S of “cats” is pronouinced like an “s” but the “S” of “dogs” is pronounced like a “z”
Not so in the case of Barack Obama.
If you listen a little bit more carefully to the video from the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville from last year you will hear a little bit after “Corpseman” he says “dogs” – with a real s.
He does this all the time. I haven’t checked, but he probably refers to himself as the “precedent” well, probably not quite like that.
You mostly will not notice it. I didn’t. It really has to be pointed out. Jay Nordlinger noted pronounciation of the letter “s” on “The Corner” on National Review Online at the time of the State of the Union Message.
You could call it his Vulcan accent.
Because it is just not logical to write an “S” and pronounbce it differently.
More seriously, he must have learned this many years ago in school from a teacher whose native language was not English. Since then, whenever he has encounted correct pronunmciations he assumed the otehr person is making a mistake and he has always been much to polite to correct it.
So far though Obama does NOT, as far as I know:
Pronounce the “W” in Answer
Pronounce the “L” in Salmon.
Pronounce the “C” Scissors.
Pronouce the “B” in Debt or in Doubt.
I am not sure about the “T” in Often – I haven’t listened for it.
This is confined apparently to the letter “S”
Now the reason he does say Press Corps and Youyth Corps right is that he has actually heard those words pronounced asnd assumed it is an irregular pattern. But an S in the middle of a word is different, and it’s no longer silent with him.
the trith of the matter is, I would not be sure how to pronounce it and I would say corpseman too. And maybe press corpse.
HOW COULD HE KNOW? THEY DO NOT USE THIS MILITARY TITLE IN KENIA OR PAKISTAN. AND WHEN HE GOT OLDER HE WAS ON DRUGS MOSTLY UNTIL SOMEBODY (MAY BE SOROS, MAY BE SAUDI PRINCE: WE HAVE TO FIND OUT) TOOK OBAMA AND PUSH HIM RIGHT INTO POLITICS WITH THE ONE GOAL ONLY: TO DESTROY THIS COUNTRY.
I can’t understand how this story could even be true. How could you meet a corpsman, and find out that’s what he was without hearing it pronounced? They don’t wear it on their uniforms. Obama’s ignorant about most things military, but how could this story be true and Obama’s never heard the word pronounced correctly? If he would have read the man’s rank off of a roster, it wouldn’t have said “corpsman.” Someone faxed him this story.
But what’s worse is watching how high in the air Obama’s chin is throughout this speech.

One’s” verbal screw-up. Face it folks, Obama is an empty suit of unimaginable proportions. Less than three more years left of his bungling…that is good news. Never again!
No point putting on airs or indignation, it’s just a mess-up like Bush mispronouncing nuclear as you said, neither is a big deal to me. I remember being mocked once for saying “deaccelerate” and as soon as someone called me on it, I realized what I had said, so maybe I’m just sensitive to public figures who mispronounce words
