Nancy Pelosi has decided that she is going to put her career on the line to get Obamacare passed. For her, it doesn’t matter how ardently the American people are against it. She’s going to get it passed, even if it costs her seat in the House… and she wants other Democrats to do the same thing.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged her colleagues to back a major overhaul of U.S. health care even if it threatens their political careers, a call to arms that underscores the issue’s massive role in this election year.
Lawmakers sometimes must enact policies that, even if unpopular at the moment, will help the public, Pelosi said in an interview being broadcast Sunday the ABC News program “This Week.”
“We’re not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress,” she said. “We’re here to do the job for the American people.”It took courage for Congress to pass Social Security and Medicare, which eventually became highly popular, she said, “and many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill.”
It’s unclear whether Pelosi’s remarks will embolden or chill dozens of moderate House Democrats who face withering criticisms of the health care proposal in visits with constituents and in national polls. Republican lawmaker unanimously oppose the health care proposals, and many GOP strategists believe voters will turn against Democrats in the November elections.
The midterms are looking more disastrous for Democrats every day that they continue trying to force Obamacare down our throats. Americans hate this bill, they want nothing to do with it, and become more steadfastly against it the more they learn about it. 73% want work on Obamacare to stop completely or to start again from the beginning.
And while Nancy Pelosi might be trying to appear noble by sacrificing her career for the admirable goal of passing sweeping health care reform, it’s a shallow and feeble attempt. She claims that they’re there to “do the job for the American people”… but that isn’t what Democrats are doing, and their job in Congress is not to just run wild on a crazy spree of spending and power-usurping. Too many politicians — both Democrat and Republican — have forgotten that they are not royals who get to make decisions with no repercussions based solely on what they want, and screw what the little people think. Politicians are supposed to be public servants. They’re supposed to be representing the interests of their constituents, and that clearly isn’t what they’re doing here with Obamacare. They aren’t trying to reform health care into a European socialist system for the good of their constituents. They know darn well that their constituents want nothing to do with Obamacare, yet Pelosi is trying to get her Democrats to soldier on anyways. And she’s not trying to do it for the good of the American people, no matter how noble she may try to sound. They’re doing it because they want to, because they get to be exempt, because it gives Washington more power, and because they are radical socialist liberals. It doesn’t matter to them if Obamacare makes the quality of health care in the United States much worse. Congress gets to opt out. And if massive numbers of Democrats get voted out because Obamacare got passed, then who cares? They still accomplished their goal and the little people got screwed.
Thankfully, this approach isn’t likely to endear many Democrats to the idea of voting for Obamacare. When you tell politicians that something is likely to anger their constituents and cost them their career, then why would they still want to vote for it? There are only a handful of Democrats in the House who are as extreme as Pelosi is. Sure, the more moderate Democrats might try going for Obamacare if they thought they could get away with it unscathed. But are they all so committed to passing Obamacare that they’d risk reelection? Some of them are, but for sure, a good number of them are not. If Nancy Pelosi’s goal with this was to rally her troops, it was a poor rallying call, and likely will only serve to make more Democrats think about distancing themselves even further from Obamacare.

Loading ...Imagine if we put the DMV in charge of your health care. Just imagine what the quality of your health care would be like. Our system isn’t perfect, but it’s the best health care system in the world at present. That won’t stop Democrats, though, as they try to re-engineer American health care.
If you’re trying to get an idea of what our new health care system will be like, it’s easy. Just look to the formerly great Britain, where socialism reigns supreme. An NHS hospital let 1,200 patients die for no reason in the filthy, blood-splattered hospital where patients were routinely neglected and left in disgusting conditions. The best part? Not a single official has been fired.
Not a single official has been disciplined over the worst-ever NHS hospital scandal, it emerged last night.
Up to 1,200 people lost their lives needlessly because Mid-Staffordshire NHS Trust put government targets and cost-cutting ahead of patient care.
But none of the doctors, nurses and managers who failed them has suffered any formal sanction.
Indeed, some have either retired on lucrative pensions or have swiftly found new jobs.
Former chief executive Martin Yeates, who has since left with a £1million pension pot, six months’ salary and a reported £400,000 payoff, did not even give evidence to the inquiry which detailed the scale of the scandal yesterday.
… The independent inquiry headed by Robert Francis QC found the safety of sick and dying patients was ‘routinely neglected’. Others were subjected to ‘ inhumane treatment’, ‘bullying’, ‘abuse’ and ‘rudeness’.
… Bosses at the Trust – officially an ‘elite’ NHS institution – were condemned for their fixation with cutting waiting times to hit Labour targets and leaving neglected patients to die.
But after a probe that was controversially held in secret, not a single individual has been publicly blamed.
The inquiry found that:
• Patients were left unwashed in their own filth for up to a month as nurses ignored their requests to use the toilet or change their sheets;
• Four members of one family. including a new-born baby girl. died within 18 months after of blunders at the hospital;
• Medics discharged patients hastily out of fear they risked being sacked for delaying;
• Wards were left filthy with blood, discarded needles and used dressings while bullying managers made whistleblowers too frightened to come forward.
… The Francis report said staff numbers were allowed to fall ‘dangerously low’, causing nurses to neglect the most basic care. It said: ‘Requests for assistance to use a bedpan or to get to and from the toilet were not responded to.
‘Some families were left to take soiled sheets home to wash or to change beds when this should have been undertaken by the hospital and its staff.’ Food and drink were left out of reach, forcing patients to drink water from flower vases.
While many staff did their best, Mr Francis said, others showed a disturbing lack of compassion to patients.
One family in particular lost four members.
Kelsey Lintern was at the centre of one of the worst tragedies in the hospital’s appalling catalogue of failure.
She lost four members of her family within 18 months, her grandmother, uncle, sister and six-day-old baby.
Mrs Lintern, 36, almost became the fifth victim when a nurse tried to give her pethidine while she was in labour, despite her medical notes and a wristband clearly stating she was allergic to the drug.
The horrific story began in January 2007 when her baby daughter Nyah had to be delivered by her own grandmother because a distracted midwife was not looking.
The baby was not breathing but she was resuscitated, then discharged by a junior paediatrician just two days later, despite the family’s fears she was seriously ill.
She was not feeding properly and still appeared blue. She died four days later. A post-mortem examination revealed four holes in her heart. Mrs Lintern accepts that Nyah may have died in any case, but said the hospital should at least have ‘realised there was a problem’.
It was when she was in labour with Nyah that a nurse arrived with a syringe of potentially-fatal pethidine, oblivious to the fact Mrs Lintern was allergic to it.
In April 2007, Mrs Lintern’s sister, Laurie Gethin, 37, died of lung, bone and lymph cancer, which had taken 18 months to be diagnosed, even though she was displaying tell-tale symptoms.
Her body, with her eyes still open, was left on her blood-splattered bed in full view of other patients. Tests revealed that Mrs Gethin had ‘markers’ in her blood which can indicated cancer.
But it was only when she was sent for a scan at another hospital that tumours were discovered. Mrs Lintern’s uncle, Tom Warriner, 48, died in January 2008 after his intestine was accidentally pierced in an operation for bowel cancer.
A coroner ruled the death was accidental. That summer, her grandmother Lilian Wood Latta, 80, died hungry and dehydrated after suffering a stroke. She was left in her own excrement during her final days and the family said the dehydration was caused by staff failing to give her adequate fluids.
Mrs Wood Latta had been referred to the hospital by her GP after suffering a series of mini-strokes at home. She was moved between wards three times, and it was left to relatives to change her incontinence pads.
This isn’t an isolated incident. Another NHS hospital faced a similar scandal when 70 patients died after suffering similar conditions. Another NHS hospital let a premature newborn die… because infants born before 22 weeks are not allowed treatment. NHS also gave free Viagra to a convicted child molestor who was set free. Britain’s socialized health care system is a mess and a danger to public health, yet Democrats for some unknown reason think it’ll work just great here… or they know it won’t work, and don’t care, because Congress gets to opt out.
It’s just like British or Canadian politicians who don’t have to suffer through this abysmal health care. They’re able to get private care, so why should they care when the little people have to suffer through such despicable conditions? As long as they keep getting reelected it makes no difference to them. The system’s not about to change, which is clear when you consider that not a single official from this disgusting hospital has had to face repercussions.
It’s not too late for Americans yet. We can still stop this monstrosity from coming here, but if we don’t… these NHS hospitals will be coming across the pond to us.

Now, how many of you can guess — just being a typical American — exactly why his insurance company wouldn’t cover the damage to his car from an accident?
Most of you will automatically know, as most average Americans who possess even an ounce of common sense will, that the legal minimum is usually only liability insurance. Most kids just out of college only buy liability because it’s the cheapest option and there’s frankly nothing wrong with that. Liability insurance only covers the damage done to the other driver’s car. Collision insurance will cover the damage done to your car. Moreover, if he was really rear-ended, he wouldn’t even be calling his insurance company. He’d be calling the other driver’s. Yet Obama is demonizing some nameless insurance company, either because he’s got no clue about how insurance works or he’s a liar.
This is the brilliant example of why we should trust this man to do a complete overhaul of our health insurance system? Either he’s a complete moron or he’s a liar. Neither inspires much confidence in his ability to comprehend how health insurance works.

This year, I’ve signed up as a team captain for JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. My personal goal is to raise $1000 for the cause, and so, I’m currently recruiting team members and trying to collect donations.
For those not familiar with JDRF, here’s a little background:
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people–a large and growing percentage of them children.
Many people think type 1 diabetes can be controlled by insulin. While insulin does keep people with type 1 diabetes alive, it is NOT a cure. Aside from the daily challenges of living with type 1 diabetes, there are many severe, often fatal, complications caused by the disease.
That’s the bad news… and yes, it’s pretty bad.
The good news, though, is that a cure for type 1 diabetes is within reach. In fact, JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. And JDRF funds a major portion of all type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other charity.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is a great cause, and I’m hoping many of you will get involved. Anyone who has diabetes or know someone who does knows just how hard it can be to live with.
Now, those of you who live in the area are more than welcome to join my team and walk with me. The walk will take place on March 27, from 9:00 – 10:00 am here in Jacksonville, NC. So if you live close to Jacksonville, I hope you’ll sign up as a walker. (No Ratings Yet) Loading ...Officials decided to investigate the death of one woman who had received an abortion at Women’s Medical Society, an abortion clinic in Philadelphia. The clinic is run by Kermit Gosnell, who is now being considered a danger to public health and safety. When the clinic was searched, they found dozens of corpses of aborted babies, frozen — and that may have been up to thirty years old.
Authorities were prompted to investigate Women’s Medical Society after an abortion patient died last November. Massive amounts of drugs found in the victim’s system led authorities to suspect Gosnell was illegally prescribing pain-killers.
Officials also suspected the woman died from the botched abortion in part because she had been treated by unlicensed personnel.
The State Board of Medicine says Gosnell had the unlicensed staff member vaginal exams and administer the drugs Demerol, Promethazine and Diazepam. He was eventually fined $1,000 for the violations.
Yesterday, for the second time in four days, according to a CBS 3 report, local police along with State Licensing officials and DEA agents, searched the Women’s Medical Society.
They found the dozens of unborn children killed in abortions who were frozen for decades. CBS 3 indicates they are now determining whether or not they may have been victims of illegal late-term abortions.
CBS 3 also reported that records from 1995 show Gosnell was publicly reprimanded by the State Licensing Board which found he ”employed a physician’s assistant that was not certified … saw at least one patient and treated him.”
So far, as a result of the abortion death, Gosnell’s medical license has been temporarily suspended, but he has not yet been charged with anything illegal. His abortion center is temporarily closed while the investigation proceeds.
Troy Newman, the president of the pro-life group Operation Rescue, told LifeNews.com that the suspension order described “deplorable and unsanitary” conditions at the clinic, indicating that “there was blood on the floor, and parts of aborted fetuses were displayed in jars.”
The order declared Gosnell to be “an immediate and clear danger to the public health and safety.”
The issue with the frozen babies? It could be evidence that illegal, late-term abortions have been regularly performed at this clinic. Dr. Gosnell seems to already have a pretty checkered past, and judging by the state of his clinic — blood on the floors, body parts of murdered babies on display, frozen corpses in storage — he seems more like some kind of sick sadist than a doctor. It brings serial killers to mind, proudly displaying trophies of their victims. It’s a shocking, disgusting, horrifying story, and I grieve the thought of how many women have had to endure the atrocities performed on them by that sick, twisted excuse for a doctor.
What’s interesting is how this story pokes a gigantic hole in one of the primary pro-abortion arguments. Feminists often like to say that if Roe v. Wade is overturned, for example, or abortion is legalized, then women will die from botched abortions and will have to suffer through procedures in disgusting, back-alley abortion clinics. It seems like that’s exactly what’s happening now though, doesn’t it?

This is the tenth clinic exposed in the Mona Lisa Project with Live Action Films (you can see the great work she’s done in the past here), where she’s shown how Planned Parenthood clinics cover up the sexual abuse of a child and tell young girls how to avoid parental notification.

This debuts at a good time, considering the release of Barack Obama’s new health care plan. It was revealed yesterday that $7 billion is going towards community health centers, hidden in a provision. How much of that money will be going to Planned Parenthood clinics across the country? How much of it will be going to other abortion clinics?
At a time when it’s being shown that Planned Parenthood flagrantly refuses to follow the law, Obama is setting up his new health care plan to enable more abortion funding. What does that say about how extremist Obama is in his pro-abortion views? Pro-life or pro-abortion, what happens in these clinics should make you sick. Any rational person who had even the slightest hint of morals wouldn’t allow the actions of Planned Parenthood to go on unpunished — yet that is exactly what has happened in state after state after state.
And worst of all (though unsurprising), far from condemning this activity, Obama is gearing up to funnel even more money to this illegal organization.
At least there is someone out there who will keep working to expose Planned Parenthood as the evil organization that it truly is.

They can choose to pay a $48 a year “subscription” or pay $300 per call. If you’re an out-of-state resident dialing 911 for a medical emergency, then you get charged $400. Unbelievable:
This is going to do nothing except discourage people to call 911, which is a very bad thing. Apparently, that’s what Tracy officials want — if there’s not a fire, a burglary, or a car wreck, then don’t bother authorities. Suck it up and get to the hospital on your own!
Of course, driving yourself or someone else to the hospital when there is a serious medical emergency is an extremely bad idea. Ambulances and EMTs are vital for a reason. They can administer IVs or — in a worst-case scenario — use a defibrillator. EMTs and paramedics are trained to get you to the hospital alive. You can’t do any of that in your minivan or your SUV.
What’s so outrageous about this is that this is what your taxes are supposed to pay for. Of course, there has to be some government official saying that they just have to charge this money or else funding from mysterious, unnamed programs will be cut. And it’s always these vital programs that get cut: police, fire, emergency services. Cutting back on welfare? Absolutely out of the question. You would think that city taxes would first and foremost go to emergency services, but clearly in Tracy, that isn’t the case. So that makes me wonder: what are their first priorities with tax dollars?
Also, what will happen if someone can’t pay for their $300 911 phone call and they have to call again? Will emergency services just not show up? And to hear a city council member shrugging it off, saying, “What is someone’s life worth?”, sent chills up my spine. Is the lesson basically that you have to decide whether or not to call 911 for Grandma, and pay $300, or risk letting Grandma die? Apparently, the attitude of the Tracy city council is that if you aren’t willing to pay the exorbitant fee to have emergency services come and treat you, then your life must not be worth that much to you.
The other problem with this is that there are plenty of residents who might stop being good Samaritans. Facts tend to get garbled as they get passed around, and people might incorrectly think that if they report that their neighbor’s house is on fire, they’ll get charged $300… and so they don’t make the call. Even if it is a medical emergency — let’s say you’re sitting in the park and have a heart attack — and a stranger has a cell phone, they might decide against calling 911.
Perhaps its time to start privatizing emergency services.

Reached at her northern Wisconsin home Tuesday evening, Leah Winandy, 21, said she was protesting abortions on behalf of Pro Life Ministries of Duluth and handing out pamphlets on First Street outside the Building for Women when confronted by Hall.
“I was there to ask mothers not to kill their babies at the abortion clinic,” she said. “She [Hall] was walking toward me. She pulled out a knife and waved it at me saying ‘Don’t come near me.’ I said, ‘Please don’t kill your baby. Fear God.’ I came to the edge of the courtyard. I said, ‘Look and listen to your ultrasound.’ She turned around and came back with a knife and held it up to my throat.”
She was arrested and pleaded guilty to assault. But the story takes an unusual turn. Despite her assault against the pro-life protester, she didn’t get the abortion. Now, she’s thankful for Leah and Sarah Winandy’s intervention.
Mechelle Hall dabbed tears from her eyes Tuesday as she pleaded guilty to second-degree assault for brandishing a knife and threatening a woman who urged her not to get an abortion.
Yet, she revealed later, she never got it.
Hall, 26, of Superior, admitted her crime in a St. Louis County courtroom under questioning by county prosecutor Nathaniel Stumme. Public defender Laura Zimm told Judge David Johnson that, under terms of a plea agreement, Hall would receive probation and wouldn’t have to serve any jail time. It was a routine, perfunctory court hearing.
The surprise came when Hall was reached by phone at her Superior home Tuesday evening. She said she never had the planned abortion. Hall said she decided to keep the baby after being confronted by anti-abortion protesters Leah Winandy and her mother, Sarah, on Nov. 24. She said she was stressed out and they made her realize that she didn’t want to end the life she was carrying inside her.
Hall was asked if there was anything she’d like to say to the Winandys.
“Thank you for being there,” she said. “If they weren’t there, I probably would have gone through with it and regretted it for the rest of my life. It probably would have gone the other way. I’m sincerely sorry for doing that to her.”
Leah Winandy has forgiven Mechelle and agreed to her sentence of probation.
Winandy said she was contacted by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office and asked if she would be agreeable to Hall receiving probation instead of a guideline prison sentence. She agreed.
“I forgive Mechelle for what she did; I do forgive her because God has given me forgiveness in my heart for her,” Winandy said.
All in all, I thought that it was a pretty incredible story. My heart just goes out to Mechelle. What she did in assaulting Leah Winandy was, of course, absolutely wrong. But imagine how she must have been feeling at the time: lost, confused, angry, scared, hurt. Someone tried to tell her she had another option and she lashed out. But Leah forgave her, which certainly defies the stereotype pro-choicers have created of abortion clinic protesters. They’d like you to think that pro-lifers are wild-eyed, crazy, Bible-thumping religious whack jobs. They don’t want people to see the peace and forgiveness that lives in the pro-life movement. They don’t want women contemplating abortion to realize that pro-lifers will be there for you with open arms. They want women considering abortion to think of pro-life activists as mean, crazy people so that the woman will be afraid to talk to them. What feminists and liberals don’t realize — or conveniently ignore — is that pro-lifers tend to be Christians who love God and simply want to protect life. They’ll be there for you if you decide to change your mind and they’ll be there to help you heal if you’ve had an abortion. They don’t judge you, and they don’t hate you.
But if you’re pro-abortion, you’ve always got to find a way to poke holes in the decision of a woman to choose life. And the feminists are already coming out of the woodwork to howl in anger about this story. Amanda Marcotte tweeted about it, calling Mechelle Hall crazy and unstable:

I didn’t see Mechelle Hall as unstable and violent. I saw her as scared and angry. I saw her as someone who knew that Leah Winandy was speaking the truth but was afraid to listen. So many women who are facing abortion feel helpless and terrified. It doesn’t make them crazy. And Mechelle Hall had probably been filled with warnings about the crazy anti-abortion protesters who would yell and scream at her, who would try to stop her from having her abortion. When someone feels defensive, scared, and helpless, it’s not a surprise when they lash out.
And what is Amanda Marcotte’s point, anyway? That certain people shouldn’t be allowed to have children and should have mandated abortions if they get pregnant? Does that really sound like someone who is fighting for choice?
Salon also chimed in on this one, with a rather strange argument against this story. The writer, Tracy Clark-Flory, didn’t like how this story went. So she decides that it was just all made up. Seriously:
It’s a total anti-choicer’s wet dream. Much like Abby Johnson’s incredibly unreliable tale of converting from Planned Parenthood clinic director to antiabortion protester, this story plays to the anti-choice mythology that pro-choicers will convert if only they’re exposed to the reality of abortion. Activists believe themselves to be preaching the truth and many will take whatever means necessary to spread the word. This just serves as a dangerous message: Take things far enough, push women to their breaking point, and you’ll change their minds! This is already a favored tactic — the picket lines at besieged clinics can resemble a ghastly Halloween procession, what with the grim reaper costumes and gruesome images of aborted fetuses — and Hall’s about-face just offers further reinforcement.
After the Abby Johnson yarn, any “pro-life” conversion story should be met with a healthy dose of skepticism (and I’ve got plenty of extra doses, if anyone is lacking). I would love to pull at the pretty little bow that has been metaphorically placed on this case, but, unfortunately, Hall hasn’t returned my calls for comment.
Right. There’s definitely some kind of problem with this story, and it just must be a fake. Why would anyone change their mind about murdering their baby?
It’s interesting how angry pro-choicers get when someone actually exercises the right to choose that pro-choicers claim to be fighting for… and don’t choose what pro-choicers want them to choose. A woman decides to cancel her abortion, and feminists scream with outrage. It doesn’t really seem to me that giving women a choice is what they’re after. They want women to make their choice… which is to always choose an abortion.
Mechelle Hall made a terrible choice in assaulting Leah Winandy. But I don’t know that it makes her some kind of violent, unstable person. If she had a history of violent behavior, then clearly she wouldn’t be sentenced to just probation with no jail time served. I’m glad she chose to give her baby a chance at life, and hopefully, she’s been able to find peace.

This is apparently connected to an Arabic language translator program on base. I’ll post more information as it comes.
Fort Jackson is located in South Carolina and is the largest training base in the Army.
UPDATE: CBN News has more information about the poison attempt:
A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the “Fort Jackson Five” may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.
UPDATE: Fox News has a statement from a spokesman for the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
The Army is taking the allegations “extremely seriously,” Grey said, but so far, “there is no credible information to support the allegations.”
The suspects were part of a Arabic translation program called “09 Lima” and use Arabic as their first language, two sources told Fox News. Another military source said they were Muslim.
