Yet another Democrat is making plans to get out while the gettin’ is still good. North Dakota Democrat Byron Dorgan announced today that he won’t be seeking reelection this fall.

Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., announced today that he won’t seek re-election this fall.

In a statement issued late this afternoon:

“The work I have been able to do to expand our economy, create new opportunities in energy and water development, invent the Red River Research Corridor with cutting-edge world class research, build a stronger safety net for family farmers and much more has been a labor of love for me,” said Dorgan, adding representing North Dakota in the U.S. Congress for nearly 30 years has been one of the great privileges of my life.

The Democrats are droppig like flies, and this gives the GOP just one more potential opening. North Dakota was won by John McCain in the election last year, and it’s entirely possible that Dorgan would had been defeated anyways. A recent Rasmussen poll showed him losing to Republican Governor John Hoeven, 58% – 36%. This would’ve scared the pants off of Dorgan… especially considering that Hoeven hasn’t even said that he’s going to run yet.

Dorgan is joining three other Democratic senators also not seeking reelection this year: Roland Burris, Ted Kaufman, and Paul Kirk.

Democrats are very, very scared of this coming election season, and with good reason. Between the stimulus package, cap and trade, health care, the upcoming amnesty disaster, and the Obama administration’s abysmal handling of the Christmas Day terror attack, Democrats are not very popular with the American people right now. They’ve shown themselves to be unethical, corrupt, and rotten to the very core. They’ve shown themselves to care not at all what their constituents actually want. They’ve let spending get completely out of control and increased our national debt so much that we’ll have generations paying it off decades into the future. Democrats know this, but they’re still passing massively unpopular legislation that the American people despise so much. It’s no wonder they’re so terrified of election season — and no wonder that more and more Democrats are deciding to retire.

These corrupt politicians have been re-elected over and over. Now, the dems are on the receiving end of a spanking, BUT if you change the dem running, the spankee is gone. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the dems won’t lose a seat. They’ll replace the ones in danger just like they did in New Jersey. With “new Dems” on the ticket, they’ll win just like they have before. Why? Because the voters in those states are by and large blithering idiots. They keep sending dems to power. They’ll sucker for it again.
