"What’s the deal? Why is blogging a boys club at a time when women are such a powerful force in creating social media content?"

Interesting you should say that, because it seems that women are the ones that have created the club. With conferences like BlogHer and the Women's Blogging Conference (among others) they have already created their own club. A cursory Google search shows no Men's blogging conferences... at all. Yet there are several that are specifically for women.

Whereas women will sit with their girlfriends and just talk for hours about their jobs, boyfriends, husbands, children, and so on, men will not. Men do not typically have those kind of relationships in their lives. So it’s only natural that women would be the ones drawn more towards social networking sites.

You should be getting fifty lashes with a wet noodle for using up such valuable paragraphs pointing out the obvious. B-u-u-u-t...what a strange world we're seeing take shape. Seems so much of the stuff that should be obvious, isn't. Meanwhile, so much of the stuff that really is "obvious" (stimulus didn't work, so we'd better get another one started...and others...)...inspires from the rational observer a big, fat "HUHWHA??"

A great looking male blogger is not going to attract much traffic, because readership online is mostly male...

Ah HAH, so that explains it.

And frankly, the people who think otherwise are just trying to find another way to exploit their status as the liberal-beloved “victim”. They need to get over it and start taking some personal responsibility for their blogging careers.

I find people, in general, are extremely unlikely to take a path of greater resistance after they've become accustomed to taking a path of lesser. That's true across the board, but it's particularly true of these touchie-feelie types (don't try to express condolences about the dog, she's closed down the thread and I don't think she'd welcome any off-line e-mail).

Bloggin'. It ain't fer the timid.

We upstanding gentleman readers hadn't noticed. By the way, can you post more pictures?

You really nailed it, Cassie. As another conservative female blogger, many female bloggers use their sites as "what I did around the house today" reports. Not interested.

For more serious bloggers, the violent comments can be unnerving. There are some I've gotten from some unhinged readers would make you cry, and I'm still a little fish. No death threats were received THIS month, but several did tell me to shove excrement in my mouth and then pass away (language has been tidied up here). Sometimes I can laugh and blow it off, other times, it's difficult. And there is always at least one Obama-bot moron who doesn't realize I'm female who tells me in colorful terms, with lots of F-bombs, what I can do and where I can put my "male organ." Actually, that makes me laugh.

But that's nothing compared to what Michelle Malkin has gone through. And her zealous attackers are not limited to the blogosphere. Just recently, Keith Olbermann went on a mad-dog attack on her on MSNBC. Not the first time, either. Vile, hateful garbage... and the leftists think Glenn Beck on FOX is over the top? Olbermann is hate-filled and deranged, a stroke just waiting to happen. Malkin is fabulous and has a true spine of steel. How she copes is a mystery to me, but I hold her in high esteem for her courage to not crumble under the left-wing extremists' attacks. Plus, she's a dynamite writer.

Great post, Cassy, loved your insight. It helps to know we're not alone in this sometimes cruel, male-dominated blogosphere.

I'm not always interested in what women have to say - because I am one. If I agree, it's redundant. If I disagree, what's the point.

Women tend to whine more when they blog. They're either really sarcastically mean, or try too hard not to offend.

I subscribe to many different blogs & only a few women and ONLY the good ones. Like you and Melissa. Thanks for being one of the good ones.
