The Left idolizes dictators because of what dictators can do in the countries where they rule:

Impose policy by fiat without having to get it past a political opposition party first. In short, rule by decree.

That’s what the Left wants – either for their individual selves, or some other individual whom they trust because he thinks like they do. They want power. Power over the lives of other individuals, especially the ones who refuse to bow down to their chosen idols.

It’s really that simple. It entirely explains their obsession with a “public health care option” and with “climate change.” Enacting legislation on either one would ultimately grant them and their friends more power over the way the rest of us live our lives – what we eat, where we shop, what we spend money on, and eventually how we think. (The latter is why they see homeschooling as such a threat.)

The love of dictators is part and parcel of the Left’s unquenchable thirst for power over their fellow human beings. They want to be like Castro, Stalin, Hitler, and other famous despots because these men had the power to have people shot for not going along with the program. That’s the unaccountably authority that they crave.

But..but…are these fools who have to back pedal to “clarify” their
“script”, after casual observers point out they’ve become a “useful idiot” (let’s call them pseudo intellectuals-it SOUNDS cooler) recognize that great evil take great brilliance, are they going to STOP the metronomic proclaimation of the yet to be demonstrated “brilliance” of President Obama, and his band of appointed “personal advisers”(Czars)?

Tell me again why Ms. O’Day was invited to sit at the “grown up” table discussing um..political science.
Can I expect to hear her reiterate her reasoned opinion with a panel of experts, including Aston Kutcher , on Bill Maher’s comedy show any time soon?

Maybe a face to face debate with Jon Voight , on ANY show originating from Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan?

Will I have to do the tantrum thing while I wait, and hold my breath until I…um, turn “Blue”

Stalin called such people useful idiots. No, they don't realize they'll be among the first against the wall/in the gulag/tortured in prison, the believe with all their might that they are among the political elite, and that they'll be immune to such treatment.

To be fair they were brilliant. And idiot couldn’t have done what either of them accomplished.

That does not excuse of course her gushing over them.

What is it with leftists and dictators? They cry fascism and oppression all the time when they’re out of power, but then seem to love it when they’re in power. Do they not realize that self-described intellectuals are usually among the first up against the wall when they get their glorious revolution? It’s not an aberration, it happens every single time. They ought to know this.

There are easier ways to commit suicide if that’s their goal.
