The non-profit Planned Parenthood is not required by law in accordance with the reporting, investing and treatment provisions 37-1-603 and 37-1-615 to report what is clearly not a case of child sexual abuse. This does not fall under mandatory reporting law. Not only is P.P not required to report, but they are not allowed to report under patient privacy laws.

Anti-choice attempts at entrapment using video recorders and various devices goes back to at least 1997. So if P.P. is breaking the law why haven’t they been prosecuted? Why hasn’t there been a single prosecution in all the States where they have attempted entrapment? Why haven’t any of the 107 ludicrous charges filed by Phill Kline stuck? Why is it that Paul Morrison found absolutely no wrongdoing? Why is Phill Kline now teaching at the fundamentalist Christian “Liberty University” founded by bigot Jerry Falwell after Kansans sent him packing?

Strangely we never see the face of this assistant nurse in the video. Why should we assume that the audio recording in any way shape or form matches the video footage we are shown? Anti-choice zealots have as mentioned attempted entrapment in several States before. With their long track record of lies and falsifying evidence I see no reason to “trust” a group that is intent on attacking a woman’s fourth amendment right to privacy. Another strange anomaly... the video is being presented to the public in April 2009 but the date on the tape shows July of 2008. Oooops!

Let’s take a look at the reality. Only 3% of Planned Parenthood’s activities involve abortion. Planned Parenthood is a non profit organization. P.P. provides services for millions of men and women, many of whom have lost health insurance and or their jobs. In terms of percentage this is what P.P. does: STD testing 29%; Contraception 38%; Cancer screening 19%; Other 11%; Abortion 3%.

Now if anti-choice fundamentalists were really concerned about abortions and “life” why would they attack contraception as they are currently doing? Contraception in addition to preventing un-intended pregnancies helps to prevent the spread of AIDS; STD’s; STI’s or (sexually transmitted infections) for both men and women. Isn’t it obvious that they would prefer to tell American citizens how they should live and conduct their sex lives? They are truly the American version of the Taliban. This has little to do with “Life” and everything to do with dogma. Why is this dangerous and a threat to the human race? Well, if you are ignorant enough to believe that a “spirit” of some sort enters the womb at the moment of conception, then you couldn’t possibly permit stem cell research which will actually help save millions of “LIVES”. So how can the issue be about life and not misguided superstition and ignorance? The excess number of embryo’s brought about by “In Vetro Fertilization” are currently being discarded, literally thrown away. What if as a society we threw away “heart’s” that could save someone’s life because we thought there was a “spirit” inside? This ignorance is a direct affront to Science, Medicine, Democracy and mankind’s altruistic nature to help those in need.

In addition to courting right-wing legislators in Indiana; Ohio; Virginia and Kentucky, Anti-Choice zealots have proposed a budget amendment sponsored by Sen. Tim Huelskamp of Kansas which seeks to cut funding for Planned Parenthood family services in the 2010 appropriations bill. Mr. Huelskamp even has the gall to reference the 107 baseless charges filed by Phill Kline that have already been rendered moot by a previous ruling.

The unmitigated ignorance of the radical right speaks volumes. Apparently they truly believe that if contraception is outlawed the 750,000 teen pregnancies a year in the U.S. will somehow magically disappear. And how would that happen exactly? Fortunately the F.D.A.’s recent approval of “Plan B” for 17 year olds will greatly reduce the number of un-intended pregnancies. Other hopeful news includes the passage of the “Omnibus Appropriations Bill” which will restore common sense birth control measures. President Obama’s reversal of Bush’s “H.H.S. midnight rule” and his rescinding the “Global Gag Rule” which had disastrous affects on women’s healthcare and family planning throughout the world is a very positive sign. Other bills are currently moving through Congress to fully restore a woman’s right to choose.

In view of the recent attacks on women’s health care by legislators at the State level I think it is imperative that we achieve a National Health Care System that will make healthcare easily accessible to all, especially in rural area’s throughout the 50 States. Building thousands more clinics around the Nation should be a top priority and one that will ultimately stimulate the economy and provide jobs for thousands. If necessary these clinics should include armed security personnel and be ‘gated’ to enforce democratic law and thwart arsonists and criminals.

In 1994 the “Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act” was passed which made it a crime punishable up to 1 year or $100,000 dollar fine for blocking a woman’s legal right to enter a health care clinic. I believe that in addition to the above we need strong Federal legislation that would severely punish anyone threatening a clinic or clinic personnel. Some action has already been taken by Federal agencies to investigate websites or publishers for example who are advocating violence or other criminal activity. Since 1982 there have been over 150 arson attacks on family planning clinics. Severe prison sentences should be implemented during this Administration to eradicate any attempt by these cowards to interfere with a woman’s legal right to choose. If fines are not paid this again should lead to a prison sentence or an extended prison sentence. I think a minimum incarceration period of ten year’s should be enacted for threatening or carrying out attacks on healthcare providers and personnel.

The radical right in this Country needs to understand that this is the law and it is the will of the American people, terrorism and tyranny against our civil liberties will not be tolerated in any form.

I see the demonization of Planned Parenthood continues unabated.

"The clinic manager further encouraged her to have an abortion, stating that giving birth to her own child had ruined her life, and that if she could do it again, she would have aborted her daughter, who was 16 at the time."

How does the manager sharing her opinion come even close to matching the lies told to women by crisis pregnancy centers every day.

Here is news for you: Most of the claims of illegal behavior in Arizona are bogus. The reporting requirement "only refers to those cases where the abuse occurred as the result of an act or omission on the part of someone having care, custody, and control of the child." Girls having older boyfriends doesn't count.

Regarding the donations to fund abortions for black women, charities make calculations like this frequently, for the greater good. Isn't the justification for cutting off government funding for PP that funds are fungible? Likewise such a donation could be offset by using other donations (such as from me) to fund abortions not covered by the restricted donation. Anyone who actually believes that such a donation would affect how women are treated based on race must harbor such an intense hatred toward PP as to be incapable of reason.
