Also what they will not talk about is that in Nature trees are Killers – and especially so in the Rainforest. Dominant trees are constantly and ruthlessly working to kill lesser plants around them by poison or other means and prevent usurpers from taking their place.

What is wrong with these people??

The tree they are all gathering around doesn’t look like it was cut down. It looks like a dead tree that fell over ON ITS OWN. This happens a lot on my property with birch trees and white pines when they can’t get enough sunlight. I end up cutting them down, so they don’t fall on anyone. God forbid that I put people’s safety ahead of a dead tree….

But even a live tree that size, I wouldn’t think twice about cutting down. It is not even worthy of notching out. That is a zip, grab, trim branches, and throw in the campfire.

They call themselves a “warrior society” in order to attract young males who seek a eco-sanctioned physical activity in order to posture and demonstrate their eco-manliness to young females – and get laid. At UC Santa Cruz – even thirty years ago – the group Greenpeace was one of the main fringe activity/outlets that was defined as “cool” and attracted a lot of Dudes who wouldn’t think of joining the Military, to seek adventure and demonstrate their bravery in other ways.
But the Service branches only provide this kind of social stimulus as a byproduct, whereas I believe with these groups it’s more central to capturing and maintaining new believers to the cult.

The irony is that they share their worship of trees with Norwegian Black Metal bands, who are often neo-Nazis as well.

These hippies just have no idea about forest management and how it helps ecosystems. Recently, I visited a tract of forest where the deceased owner donated it to community under the condition that no hunting or logging could occur. It is a complete mess. All the trees can been killed by gypsy moths and any new trees are just choked out by ferns. Its sad.
