I guess the Pelosi/Reid energy plan is to hug a tree so hard that it produces oil. Or to make the speculators stop doing their jobs by “legislating” them. Pelosi and Co. will be making speculators “work harder and work faster”.

Speculators are predicting trends in the oil supply. If there are no new sources of oil and other countries increase their use, there will be less supply. Simple economics. It is much like blaming the weatherman for not predicting enough good weather. “He/she keeps saying it’s going to rain!!!! They should tell me its going to be sunny!!”

In 2006, the US used 20 million barrels per day, 13 million is imported. About 8 million is non-OPEC, the rest is OPEC. We produce only 5 million barrels of oil and 1.7 million barrels Natural gas plant liquids. (Source EIA, Table 5.4 “Petroluem Imports by Country of Origin” and Table 5.1 “Petroluem Overview”)

Even increasing US oil production by 2 million per day would eliminate our supply from 1.5 million imported from Venezuela.

Thinking about it a bit more, She keeps talking about “releasing” the strategic petroleum reserve, which is currently around 700 million barrels. If we use Ironwolf32’s number of 20 million barrels per day, that gives us 35 days. What the hell kind of plan is that? 35 days??? This is pelosi’s energy plan? The democrats won’t allow drilling, even if the price of gas goes up to $10 a gallon, why? because they have 35 days for us.

Bob asks why the democrats won’t allow drilling, even if the price of gas goes up to $10/gallon? The answer is “The Great Society” programs that the democrats have placed their destinies in is based in the Urban wastelands that we call the big cities in this country. If gas gets to $10/gallon or $12/gallon, those who were smart enough to flee the cities all those years ago to the suburbs, will have no choice but to move back to the cities, because our commutes will be unaffordable. Therefore increasing their taxbase and guaranteeing their perpetual socialist agenda.

    George Stephanopoulos pummels Nancy Pelosi…

I was waiting for her to begin crying. It was hard not to be distracted by the Speaker’s looks. That face could be used as a snare drum. Sheez… I expected a cheek bone to cut through at any moment….

Saw a report on Politico to the effect that the dems are stalling. They think that The Annointed One will be in the White House come January and that there will be even more filthy dems in the Congress. Once that happens, they can pass the energy policy they want without having to reach any sort of compromise with the GOP minority.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.
