A lot of people seem content to just resign themselves to an Obama presidency. Well, newsflash folks, Obama’s presidency is not inevitable, and it isn’t likely to be just another “Carter presidency”. It isn’t likely to give us another Reagan, either — great leaders like don’t come around every four years. I’m not going to lecture anyone right now about supporting McCain, but I do want to remind people of just what we’ll be getting into by settling for Obama. Here’s a refresher on the problems we have with Barack Hussein Obama, the most liberal senator in the United States Senate:

  • The man Obama calls his mentor is a known communist. A President with Communist leanings: exactly what this country needs!
  • Obama refused to hold his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. The Flag code states that all should put their right hand over their heart during the National Anthem when the flag is also displayed, except those in uniform. But don’t question his patriotism or anything.
  • Obama also seems to have a problem with wearing a flag pin because to him it’s “unpatriotic”. But, you know, he LOVES his country and all.
  • Obama wants us to pay 845 billion dollars to help the U.N. “relieve global poverty”. We, the taxpayers, will of course be the ones to pick up the tab.
  • Obama associated with violent anti-war radicals in the 1960s, including some whose acts escalated to terrorism.
  • Obama supporters can’t even name a single thing he has accomplished.
  • Obama is a Che Guevara fan — you know, the Cuban murderer that liberals like to celebrate.
  • Who can forget Texas State Senator Kirk Watson, an Obama supporter who couldn’t name a single legislative accomplishment during Obama’s short time in the Senate?
  • As President, Obama is promising us 850 billion dollars in new spending, 850 billion of which will likely be wasted.
  • 8 things you should know about the relationship between Obama and Tony Rezko.

Feel free to reproduce these links — apparently we need to be reminded of just what it is we’ll be getting with an Obama presidency.

A psychiatrist who has treated over 1,500 patients has come to the unshocking conclusion that liberalism is indeed a mental disorder.

Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.

“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”

Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by the two major candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination can only be understood as a psychological disorder.

“A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do,” he says. “A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation’s citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do.”

Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

  • creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
  • satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
  • augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
  • rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

“The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind,” he says. “When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”

  • So, Dr. Rossiter has concluded what conservatives have been saying for a long, long time — that liberalism is nothing more than politics practiced by someone with a mindset of a five-year-old, immature and emotional.

Does this mean that with some mental help, liberalism can disappear? Interesting, indeed…

Well, last night was the Oscars. I didn’t watch — I don’t find it particularly entertaining to watch already-smug actors, directors, producers, and the rest of the Hollywood establishment rub shoulders and celebrate their profound awesomeness, which is all the Oscars (and every other award show) really is about.

I did see today, however, that the Academy decided to pay tribute to our troops by letting some of our soldiers in Baghdad introduce the award for Best Documentary.

    There was the good:

    And the bad:

The winner, Taxi to the Dark Side by Alex Gibney and Eva Orner is about the military committing acts of torture around the world.

I wonder how it went when the Academy decided to let them introduce a category.
    - “Hey guys, let’s do something to pay tribute to the troops.”
    - “Yeah, that’s a good idea. What category should they introduce?”
    - “How about the one where the winner is a film about how sick and twisted our military is?”
    - “The one where it shows the troops committing all kinds of torture?”
    - “Yeah, that one.”
    - “Sweet, let’s do it! It’ll be perfect.”
    - “Yeah, they’re just killing babies and raping goats over in Baghdad anyways.”
    - “They’re probably too stupid to get it.”

I guess we shouldn’t really be too surprised, though. This if, after all, the only way Hollywood knows how to show support to our troops. They can’t do so without finding some way to sully that tribute. But, well, high five for trying!

    Well… maybe a low five.

By: Cassy | Discussion (1) | Filed Under: Election 08Mitt Romney

    Well, color me surprised.

Mitt Romney was not my first choice for a presidential candidate, but he came third after Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson. He’s far more conservative than McCain, and while there was a question of flip-flopping on some issues, he seemed far more trustworthy than McCain and, God forbid, Clinton or Obama. My support ran to Mitt after the two most conservative candidates left the race, and I was genuinely saddened when he dropped out, especially when he said this:

Now, I disagree with Senator McCain on a number of issues, as you know. But I agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq, and finding and executing Osama bin Laden. And I agree with him on eliminating Al Qaida and terror worldwide.

Now, if I fight on, in my campaign, all the way to the convention…

I want you to know, I’ve given this a lot of thought — I’d forestall the launch of a national campaign and, frankly, I’d make it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win.

Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

This isn’t an easy decision. I hate to lose.

My family, my friends, you, my supporters across the country, you’ve given a great deal to get me to where I have a shot to becoming president. If this were only about me, I’d go on. But it’s never been only about me. I entered this race — I entered this race because I love America. And because I love America, in this time of war, I feel I have to now stand aside for our party and for our country.

I will continue to stand for conservative principles. I’ll fight alongside you for all the things we believe in. And one of the things we believe in is that we cannot allow the next president of the United States to retreat in the face of evil extremism.

And so, Romney bowed out gracefully, something that Mike Huckabee cannot seem to get the hang of. And I was supremely disappointed that he dropped out, because he was the closest we had left to a conservative, even though some thought Mitt Romney would be unelectable in the general election (I disagree).

Well, there may yet be some hope — he may be returning to the race.

Josh Romney, one of former Gov. Mitt Romney’s five sons, says it’s “possible” his father may rejoin the race for the White House, either as a vice presidential candidate or seek to become the Republican Party’s standard bearer if the campaign of Sen. John McCain falters.

He’s asked about speculation that given the McCain troubles his father might re-enter the Republican race either as a candidate for the top spot or as the party nominee’s vice presidential partner and Romney replies it’s “possible.” Then, he adds, “unlikely, but possible.”

It was the first sign from the Romney camp or family that the former Massachusetts governor’s political plans for 2008 were anything but over.

Such a move could provide a possible rallying point for conservatives, who awaited a perfect conservative candidate and held back from supporting Romney all during 2007 while the campaigns of other conservatives including Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback and Fred Thompson collapsed.

I would love to see Mitt reenter the race, as a vice presidential candidate or, even better, as a presidential candidate once again. He would be a vast improvement over McCain and Huckabee.

I still think that if McCain ends up our nominee we need to be united behind him. But I think we all would be able to do that much more willingly with Mitt Romney as our candidate. It’s a long shot, but it’s hope, and isn’t that one of the keywords of this election season anyways?

Who hear is familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church and its “leader”, the P.O.S. excuse for a human being named Fred Phelps? For those not in the know, let’s get you acquainted.

Fred Phelps is the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas. Phelps & Co. are well-known for picketing any event supportive of the gay community — gay pride weeks, parades, etc. They also condemn Catholics, Muslims, Jews, and anyone who may support the groups they hate — including the United States, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, Mexico, etc. One of their websites is called God Hates America and “praises God for the NIU massacre”. They call themselves Baptist, but are not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations, nor does any Baptist institution recognize the church as a Bible-believing fellowship. They believe that almost every tragedy in the world is caused by homosexuality, and that homosexuality should be considered a capital crime.

    Disgusted yet? It gets worse.

The WBC is more a cult than a church. Members are not allowed to marry anyone outside the church. They picket daily, and travel nationwide to picket the funerals of murdered homosexuals or those who have died of AIDS — including the funeral of Matthew Shepard. They also protest at live theatre, concerts, and Kansas City Chiefs football games, claiming that these are “havens for homosexuality”.

They’ve now shifted their attention from focusing on protesting homosexuality to protesting funerals of fallen soldiers killed in the Iraq war. On their website’s FAQ section (yes, that really is the web address for those who are shocked), they claim that (please be cautioned for language):

These turkeys are not heroes. They are lazy, incompetent idiots looking for jobs because they’re not qualified for honest work.

They were raised on a steady diet of fag propaganda in the home, on TV, in church, in school, in mass media - everywhere - the two-pronged lie: 1) It’s OK to be gay; and, 2) Anyone saying otherwise, like WBC, is a hatemonger who must be vilified, demonized, marginalized into silence.

Therefore, with full knowledge of what they were doing, they voluntarily joined a fag-infested army to fight for a fag-run country now utterly and finally forsaken by God who Himself is fighting against that country.

Like me, I’m sure that you’re thoroughly disgusted by reading all of that. These asshats are the primary reason that we need the Patriot Guard Riders, a noble group of bikers who travel across the country to shield the families of fallen soldiers from the protesters.

Recently successfully sued by the father of a fallen soldier, Fred Phelps and the WBC are undeterred. Unsatisfied now with attacking the families of fallen soldiers while they mourn at their loved ones’ funerals, or protesting the gay community nationwide, the Phelps’ and WBC is planning to protest at a memorial service for Brianna Denison. Who is Brianna?

She was a young girl who attended Santa Barbara College, and who was raped and strangled to death in Reno, NV. She was visiting a friend in Nevada over Christmas break, and was abducted in January.

According to their website, here is why they are protesting:

Reno-Sparks Convention Center 4590 S. Virginia St. This is for the memorial service for Brianna Denison. She was the “victim” of a serial rapist’s strangulation. We call it the Wrath of God being poured out on a nation of rebels without a cause. You brought this Wrath on your own head, Reno, NV because you (1st) raised your chidren to be dashed to pieces as rebellious, arrogant soldiers of a Doomed nation of perverts and (2nd) when we warned you to not go to Hell like the dead soldiers and OBEY YOUR MAKER, you lawless brutes did not obey your own laws; instead, you allowed criminal, disorderly conduct to take place betwixt our humble, peaceful preachers and your arrogant, filthy-mouthed and violent counter-demonstraters. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QufIrF9-b9E for an excellent view of Doomed Americans breaking their own laws. You taught your daughters to be whores ? God sent the pervert to rape and murder your daughters. You taught your people to be lawless ? when your police do NOT obey the law and the oath they took ? you teach rebellion to the people. When you call God a liar and say his standards are on the table to dispose of, you teach the pervert that HE is entitled to disobey the law!! America is Doomed, and Reno, Nevada is Doomed. Amen.

    This is Brianna Denison:

She was someone’s daughter, someone’s sister, someone’s friend. What happened to her is a horrible tragedy — abducted and killed by a serial rapist who authorities believe will become a serial killer, if he isn’t already. The memorial service is being called a celebration of life, to remember and cherish the person that she was. These scumbags are going to show up and cause her family and friends more pain and suffering than they already are because of their sick, twisted, self-righteous “dogma”.

I’ve read that there will be plenty of people there, bikers (probably the Patriot Guard, but who knows?), to counter-protest them. Let’s hope so. If you live in the Reno area, I strongly encourage you to counter-protest them yourself. The service is tonight from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at the Reno Sparks Convention Center. If we can keep the asshats away from her grieving family and friends it would be wonderful. The loss these people have suffered is enormous, and they don’t need the memory of their daughter and friend, and their time of grieving, tarnished by pitiful, pathetic assclowns like the WBC idiots. If you can’t attend, then please keep Brianna’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

From Evaluation comes a video for the weekend. For all you Beatles fans, here’s a new cover of “Hey Jude” by a diaper-wearing infant with a guitar bigger than he is. And I have to agree with Gags over at Evaluation: this kid is better than half of the signed recording artists out there today. Maybe better than three-quarters, even.

    Enjoy:

And to show that this tot is, indeed, better than what the music industry gives us today, I’m giving you another video. This one also comes from Evaluation, and is a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” sung by Charlotte Church and Amy Winehouse. Charlotte Church is lovely, but Amy Winehouse is a mess. In all likelihood, she was one God knows what kind of drugs during this performance, and at one point (around 2:00 in), you can even see Charlotte putting an arm around her to keep her steady. This performance is like a train wreck — completely horrible and apalling, but you just can’t look away. Even Charlotte’s face is entertaining, because it’s quite obvious that she’s as apalled by Amy’s performance as we are.

Did I mention that Amy Winehouse just won 5 Grammys? She won awards for Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Best Vocal Album and Best Pop Vocal Performance. That’s right, folks. Watch this video and see if you can tell me why.

By: Cassy | Discussion (6) | Filed Under: Election 08John McCain

John Hawkins has done another one of his always-popular blogger polls, and the topic was John McCain. 59 blogs responded, and the poll showed that John McCain, unsurprisingly, has not yet been able to completely gain the trust of conservatives. Here are some of the results (visit Right Wing News to view them all):

Do you intend to vote for John McCain in November?

    A) Yes: 40 — 75%
    B) No: 13 — 25%

Do you consider John McCain to be a conservative?

    A) Yes: 19 — 34%
    B) No: 37 — 66%

Do you trust John McCain to appoint Supreme Court Justices like Roberts and Alito?

    A) Yes: 32 — 55%
    B) No: 26 — 45%

How enthusiastic would you be about actually having John McCain as President on a 10 scale? Think of a score of 10 as being extremely enthusiastic and excited and 1 as being about very upset and unenthusiastic.

    Average score: 4.7

The answers to this poll were troubling to me, and not because I distrust John McCain. I do distrust McCain on several issues, but I am ready to put that aside for now, and other conservatives need to do the same.

All throughout the primaries, most of us in the blogosphere have been steadfastly against John McCain — myself included. But it’s time to get over the feelings that most of us have of distrust, fear, and anger about McCain being our nominee. Like it or not, he is the nominee, and we can’t keep focusing on the negatives. What truly saddens me concerning John McCain is that so many of us seem only able to focus on where he stands politically. We’ve all overlooked the fact that the man is a genuine war hero, who has done some incredible things, and despite the mistakes he may have made with various policies and legislations, loves his country — no one can doubt that. He’s a fiscal conservative, will be great for the military, and is also someone we can trust with foreiqn policy, national security, and the War on Terror.

John McCain is not the conservative dream candidate — he’s broken the collective heart of conservativism multiple times. But we need to start remembering who the alternatives are — Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. Who, of these three, would do more harm to the country? Is it even a question?

So many are saying that they refuse to vote for McCain out or “principle”, that they won’t choose the lesser of two evils. But we all need to get over that attitude. We need to understand that things will not always go our way; we may never get another Ronald Reagan. No candidate, not even Reagan himself, will ever be able to measure up the the impossibly high standards conservatives are holding candidates to. Yes, we should support the most conservative candidate we can, but Americans have voted in John McCain as our candidate for 2008, and therefore, we have got to get past the animosity towards McCain.

Let’s leave the whiny emotionalism for the liberals, hmm?

If we can’t unite ourselves this election season, then how can we possibly win? It won’t help the conservative movement one bit to give the country President Barack Obama, or even worse, President Hillary Clinton. Is that what any of us conservatives want? You may be furious because McCain has failed us on some issues, but if we don’t get him into office, then we’ll have a President who fails us on all the issues.

He may not be the candidate that any of us wanted, but we need to get behind him. We need to support John McCain, for the good of the United States.

Just as God issued his Ten Commandments, the new savior of our souls, the Obamamessiah, has issued his first commandment through his wife, Michelle.
    From Hot Air:

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

And we on the Right are the fascists?! Puh-lease.

But hey, it looks like the Obamamessiah and his wife have found exactly what it is that will save our souls!

He is going to force all of us to work — and give 80% of our hard-earned money from all of that working to the government, of course. He is going to force all of us to become de-isolated — and finally embrace the superior wisdom of the globalists in Europe and at the UN, of course. We must shed our cynicism — there’s too many of us who aren’t buying into his empty speeches filled with empty promises, and it’s our fault because we’re just too gosh darn cynical! With the Obamamessiah as President, our lives will change forever all right, whether we like it or not, and it’ll be the changes that he thinks we need to make.

    OK, sarcasm off now.

At what point is the Obama campaign going to realize that they need to shut this woman up. It’s just gaffe after gaffe after gaffe. And the comments she’s been making show her to be quite an ugly mix of Teresa Heinz Kerry (downright stupidity), John Edwards (promising everything in the world to get elected), and some sort of weird cross of Lenin and Hitler (see quote above). So honestly, at what point does Obama realize that he needs to get his wife to keep her damn mouth shut? And at what point do people start actually listening to what is coming out of her mouth and start thinking about exactly what kind of President and First Lady these two would be?

This could possibly be the least surprising story of the day, but the lacrosse team deserves justice. 38 players are suing Duke University, its president Richard Brodhead, the Duke Medical Center, and the city of Durham, North Carolina. Good for them — these young men were slandered before the entire nation while the university stood idly by doing nothing, when they allegedly had evidence proving their innocence.

Duke University will be sued by 38 members of the 2006 men’s lacrosse team who claim they suffered emotional distress when school officials failed to support them during a rape investigation, a spokesman for the players said.

The lawsuit, to be filed today in U.S. District Court in North Carolina, also will name Duke President Richard Brodhead, Duke’s medical center, and the city of Durham, North Carolina, according to a statement posted on a Web site run by players’ spokesman Bob Bork. University officials remained silent during the rape probe, even though they had evidence that the players were innocent, according to the statement.

“These young men want acknowledgment that they were wronged by institutions and individuals that they trusted to treat them honestly,” attorney Chuck Cooper said in the statement. “They were victimized by a corrupt investigation that ignored or suppressed evidence that would have cleared them. And, all for a crime that never took place.”

You can follow the suit at www.dukelawsuit.com.

They don’t belong here; they shouldn’t have come here; and they should leave.
    - Berkeley mayor Tom Bates

Move America Forward is fed up with Berkeley, like many of us disgusted with their treatment of the military there.

The Army veteran in the ad, John Bringuel, is no stranger to the military hatred festering in Berkeley. In 1965, he spoke up against the anti-military bias there, and forty-three years later he’s standing up for the military again. Hot Air
has an excerpt of his 1965 letter concerning the Berkeley ingrates:

Why the animosity towards Berkeley instead of the Code Pink traitorous moonbats? Because Berkeley isn’t just looking the other way, they’re active participants, encouraging the moonbats and publicly declaring that they want the Marines — who they call “uninvited unwelcome intruders” and “barbaric” gone. The Berkeley City Council passed a resolution claiming that the recruiting office “is not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders.” They’ve also given the moonbats their own designated parking spot in front of the office as well as a sound permit, so they can be as loud and disruptive as they wish.

Jim DeMint, as I mentioned yesterday, is moving to block all earmarks to Berkeley until they stop this atrocity.

Visit Move America Forward’s website and sign the petition there. This situation has gotten disturbingly little attention in the mainstream media, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make your voice heard. Maybe it’s time for the Berkeley City Council to start stocking up on white feathers:
