You really reeled in some idiots with this one. And for those of you who think this is not child abuse, you really are idiots. Warping this child is cruel. Even if he has “gender issues” he needs to learn to be himself in the real world. Once he is old enough to understand these issues then he can choose.

And marti you need some serious professional help!

I can appreciate those who support people suffering from gender dysphoria, but I cannot see how they think this poor child will have a 'normal' childhood.

Slumber parties? Nope.

Playing dress-up? Nope

Tell me, what happens the first time some little girl notices Ashley's penis?

I would love to say that the surgery helps, that one can alter the sex that they were born. But you can't.

You can cosmetically alter the look of a person, but we don't yet have the ability to make a boy a girl or a girl a boy.

We can make them look like a different gender, but that's all it is--a look, a mask.

And a mask, no matter how perfect, is never as good as the real thing.

Until about age 17, when ’she’ realizes what was done without even basic consent from ‘her’, and kills ‘herself’.

Yeah, what great parents…

What I would wager is that they have wanted a daughter for a long, long time, and the last kid they just finally figured “screw it… if we can’t birth one, we’ll build one”.

For those of us that have lived with gender dysphoria, we see this for what it is, a reality. This isn’t some aberration, it’s a mental disorder and it doesn’t just go away with “science.”

Of course it’s easy for you to judge, you aren’t transgender and you aren’t a parent of a transgender child.

“It is because a child at eighteen months, or four years, or seven years, does not understand what transgender is.”

How the hell do you know this? You don’t. It just fits in to your happy little vision of life. Anyone that has lived through this KNOWS your words are from someone that you have no clue. Could I put my finger on this and say “I’m a girl” at 18 months? No. But from as far back as I can remember, my gender identity has strayed from masculinity and I’ve never felt comfortable identifying as a male.

But you can see that this was not the parents’ agenda at all. The father, especially, was very resistant to the idea of letting the child be the person she insisted upon being.
